L-Taurine, in extremely low levels, has been measured in heart attack patients,
supporting its use in Japan as a treatment for ischemic heart disease.
Taurine has a positive effect on cell membranes, normalizing potassium
flow in and out of heart muscle cells.
Supplemental Taurine seems to decrease the tendency to develop potentially lethal abnormal arrythmias after heart attacks. Congestive heart failure has also been shown to respond well to L-Taurine supplementation, evidencing improved cardiac and respiratory function. From Allergy Research Group. |
